Our Musical Theatre Companies

We have two different Musical Theatre Companies, which offer three productions per year (Spring, Summer, and Fall).  These are tuition-based programs; limited financial needs-based scholarships are available.

Youth Musical Theatre Company - Currently on Hiatus - Young Performers Are Invited to Join our Premier Company.
For Ages 5 through 12
No Audition Required - Everyone Welcome

This company performs “Broadway Junior” type shows, which are slightly shortened versions of original Broadway productions. This is a less-intensive program that typically rehearses 3 hours per week (Saturdays, 10am - 1pm), with three performances at the end of 12+ weeks. The venue for the performance varies, depending on availability of local theatres/auditoriums.

Students in our Youth Musical Theatre Company get to experience high-quality sets, lighting, sound and costumes. No prior musical theatre experience is necessary and no audition is required to join this company. Casting takes place within the first few weeks, allowing children to relax and demonstrate their abilities in a non-stressful setting.

Premier Musical Theatre Company
Generally for ages 6 through Adult (specific age range varies based on show)
Audition Required - All Experience Levels Accepted - All Will Be Cast in the Show

This company puts on full-length musicals in the Spring and Fall, featuring Broadway-quality costumes and professional-quality sets, lighting and sound. Performances are generally held at the James R. Armstrong Theatre located in the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. Rehearsals are on Saturdays, 10am - 4pm (actual call times will vary depending on scenes being rehearsed). Those in lead and supporting roles may be called to one additional weekday rehearsal for 2-3 hours per week.

Educational Focus

The educational focus for both our musical theatre companies is to provide students with a strong foundation in all elements of musical theatre.  Our directors have incredible training and many years of experience, both as performers and educators.  During the rehearsal process, students are taught theatre terminology, acting, character development, dance, vocal exercises and techniques, and theatre games designed to foster self-confidence and creative expression.  A positive, nurturing environment is an essential element of our program.
